My how Lucas John has grown! He is becoming more and more energetic and talkative by the day! He continues to amaze me with his sweet, yet somewhat stubborn disposition. One moment he can be an angel, playing quietly with his toys, giving sweet hugs and slobbery kisses, and the next minute I turn around and he's terrorizing the dog. He and our Maltese, Sugar, have a love/hate relationship. He is thrilled to see Sugar when we get home, and vice versa, but then before I know it she is either jumping on him licking him as he screams and tries to push her away, or he is chasing her around the house trying to take her bone or pull her tail. There is one particular toy that they constantly fight over. It is a round little rubber baseball. Luke loves it because if fits right in the palm of his hand (and in his mouth), and Sugar loves it for one of the same reasons. If Luke is playing with the ball and throws it, Sugar will chase after it, grab it with her mouth, and run away with it while Luke chases after her screaming, "Shoog, no ball! Shoog, no ball! I feel like a constant referee between a dog and a toddler. I guess it's good practice for future siblings:o) In other news, Luke's vocabulary is expanding by the day. Although I can only understand a small percentage of what he is saying, here are some of the words I have been able to figure:o): Sugar, All done!, Cracker, Cheese, More, book, night night, duck, baby, shoes, and socks. These first 16 months have been quite an adventure. I am looking forward to the coming months as our baby continues to grow into a little boy!

Just wait till this time next year! Altho Shep didn't have too too terrible twos. He went thru a very ugly terrible three stage tho.
