We Survived!

Although Hurricane Ike ripped through Houston and surrounding areas, we are very fortunate that we only sustained tropical storm winds with hurricane gusts. The only real damage done to our house was that our fence blew down. It was rather old and needed to be replaced anyway. We did go without electricity for about 20 hours, but our power returned Saturday evening. We feel so blessed to have electricity, especially because I hear that many people are still without it. My parents, brother, and grandparents have been staying with us off and on because they are still without power. It breaks my heart that so many have either had severe damage to their homes or lost their homes. Some have even lost their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been affected by this hurricane.
In remembrance of what Galveston looked like just weeks ago, here are some pictures of our family trip with my parents to Galveston this summer. We stayed for 3 days in my parents condo. It was Luke's first time to go to the beach and he absolutely LOVED it!

I'm SO GLAD to hear that you guys made it through safe and sound! My parents had a huge tree fall on their house and there was some pretty substantial damage to the bay house, but it's still standing! If you can believe it, we had tropical storm-force winds here in Kentucky! We had some roof damage, siding ripped off, and a tree fall on our fence in the backyard, and we were without power for three days, but we were very lucky. I hope you're feeling okay--your pictures are darling!
