On August 31, 2007 Lucas John turned 1 year old! My oh my, where has the time gone?!?!? Throughout the weekend Creighton and I flipped through pictures from the past year. It is hard to believe that the 7 lb. 4 oz baby boy we brought home a year ago is a crawling, babbling, giggly, bright eyed, 25 lb little boy!
When I first found out I was pregnant, I was scared beyond belief. For anyone who knows me well, I am not a fan of discomfort, pain, hospitals, etc. When I thought of pregnancy, all that came to mind was LABOR!!! (The most important and difficult part of being a parent, RAISING this child, hadn't even crossed my mind yet). It took several months before I became comfortable with the idea. As my pregnancy progressed and I began to feel Luke flip, kick, & hiccup, my mind shifted from the terror of labor to the idea of meeting my son for the first time, holding him, smelling his sweetness, & getting to know this little person inside of me. Thankfully when labor did come, God blessed me with a quick & painless (thanks so the epi) delivery. When I laid eyes on Lucas for the first time, I was in complete love and awe. Still to this day when I look back on August 31st, it is such a blurr. That day was filled with so many extreme emotions. As each day of Luke's first year has passed I have grown more and more in love with him. Although this first year has brought it's share of challenges (man those sleepless nights are tough!) Luke has brought more joy and laughter to our lives than I can even begin to describe. Becoming a Mommy has been the most rewarding experience of my life! I am looking forward to watching Luke continue to grow & progress in the year to come. Happy 1st Birthday my sweet boy!
